Who we are

Longwall House is a private individual preparing to let part of her home as holiday and short-stay accommodation near Borough Green, Kent. She is the data controller for the information collected through this website.

What we collect

Only what you type into the form, which is:

• Your name and email addressRequired, so that we can write back to you.
• Optional details you choose to giveCompany, phone number, rough location, party size, timing, which parts of the house interest you, and anything you write in the message box.
• Technical basics attached to the submissionThe date and time, which page the form was sent from, and your IP address. The IP address is kept only to help us spot and block automated spam.

We do not use Google Analytics, advertising pixels, social media widgets or any third-party scripts whatsoever. Nothing on this site loads from another company's server, and nothing you do here is reported to anyone else.

Counting visitors

We do keep a count of how many times each page is looked at, and of the website that sent each visitor to us — a search engine, say, or a link in an advertisement. This is how we work out what proportion of the people who read the page go on to join the list, which is the entire point of the exercise.

That counter runs on our own server. It records a date, a page address and a referring website name, and it adds one to a number. It does not store your IP address, does not set a cookie, does not use a fingerprint or an identifier of any kind, and cannot be used to work out that two visits came from the same person. There is no way for us to pick you out of it, which is deliberate.

Cookies

This website sets no cookies at all for ordinary visitors, which is why you have not been asked to accept any. A single session cookie is used on the private administration page, which is not accessible to the public.

Why we hold it, and on what basis

We hold it for one purpose: to contact you about Longwall House opening, and to understand what people actually want so that we build the right thing. The lawful basis is your consent, which you gave by ticking the box on the form. You can withdraw it at any time and we will act on that promptly.

If you tell us about a disability or a medical need in the message box, that is special category data under UK GDPR. We would rather you kept those details general at this stage. Anything you do tell us is held on the same basis as everything else, kept to the minimum, seen only by the owner, and used only to work out what the Inclusive Suite needs.

Who sees it

The owner. That is the whole list.

The information sits in a file on this website's hosting, which is provided by our web host, and a copy is emailed to the owner's mailbox. Those two suppliers can technically access the servers the data sits on, as any host or email provider can. We do not pass your details to any letting platform, agency, marketing service or anybody else, and we never will without asking you first.

How long we keep it

Until the house has opened and we have told you about it, and then no more than twelve months beyond that unless you have asked to stay in touch. If the project does not go ahead, we will tell you and then delete the list.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask us to show you what we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or stop using it, and you can withdraw your consent at any time. Email [email protected] and we will deal with it within a month, normally a great deal faster than that, because this is a short list held by one person.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS. Submissions are stored in a file that is not reachable from the web, and the administration page is password protected. This is a small operation and we are not pretending to bank-grade security, but the amount of information involved is deliberately small for exactly that reason.

Changes

If this notice changes materially before we open, we will say so on this page and, if it affects you, by email.
